Thirty four members of Viva Acappella represented the UK at the International Barbershop Championships which took place at in Honolulu, Hawaii from 5th – 9th November 2013.
The competition was held at the International Convention Center in Honolulu, Hawaii and included forty two choruses and fifty two quartets from around the world including the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Alaska, Sweden and the UK. Viva Acappella was one of the smallest performing chorus competing in the semi-finals on Thursday 7th November for a place in the final on the Saturday. Michelle Daniels commented “It was an unbelievable opportunity for us to represent the UK at the International Championships in Hawaii. We were very privileged and had an amazing reception from the audience as we left the stage. This was our first performance at the internationals but we hope to back in 2015. We cannot thank our friends, families and supporters for their amazing support in helping us to raise the money needed to attend the championships”.
Viva Acappella were greeted by a standing ovation as they came off stage following their performance on the International stage. Viva Acappella will be competing once again at the National Barbershop Competition in May 2014 being held at the Theatre Royal Concert Hall in Nottingham.

Viva Acappella is an exciting, vibrant female group of harmony singers based in Bexley, Kent. The thirty seven members come from all over the South East including Kent, Suffolk, Essex and Surrey. Formed in 2009 the chorus compete both nationally and internationally, having won gold at the national barbershop competition (Sweet Adelines International, Region 31) in Birmingham in May 2012 and ranked 22nd in the world at the International Championships held in Hawaii in November 2013 (Sweet Adelines International Convention). Viva’s repertoire includes pop, rock, show tunes and ballads. The chorus support charities such as Marie Curie Cancer Research and the RNIB as well as sing at various occasions, corporate events, charity fundraisers, shows, weddings, festivals, launches, birthdays and anniversary parties.
